When you work for an small or medium sized business (SMB) you have to be a little bit mad. You take chances, jump in with both feet, move quickly and do it all with a focus on growth (everything has to be about growth). These are all of the reasons we love working with SMBs, and being one ourselves. We like to think of ourselves as MAD (Modern Adventurous Dreamers), so we’re mad, but with purpose and direction! While nothing is more exhilarating than working in a small company, we hear all too often “there is so much to do, we just don’t know where to start” or “we don’t have enough resources to do everything we need to”…especially when it comes to getting started with online marketing.
That’s why, over the next couple week, we’re going to be doing a blog series to help you get a handle on the basics of online marketing called “The TL;DR (Too Long, Didn’t Read) Marketing Guide for your Small Business” In this five part series, we’re going to be exploring the basic ‘Whats, Whys and Hows’ of online marketing, and give you the ‘Coles Notes’ version, since we know that you don’t have the time to dive into the nitty-gritty details, which is why we’ve called this series the ‘TL;DR Guide’.
We’re going to break down the main fundamentals of online marketing, which we believe are 1) SEO & Blogging 2) Social Media Marketing 3) Lead Management 4) Email Nurturing and 5) Customer Relationship Management.
When marketers talk, they use their own language. One goal of this blog series is to de-mystify it for you; acronyms and abbreviations be damned. We are going to start each blog with a glossary of the most important terms and then delve into the key pillars of each theme.
By the end you should understand the key functions of online sales marketing and know what tools can make your job easier. Our first post will be “Getting Started with SEO & Blogging Tools”. Stay Tuned!
